Nominations now open for the 2025 Arthur Svensson Prize

The Arthur Svensson International Prize for Trade Union Rights is one of the most prestigious awards in the labor movement. You are now invited to nominate candidates for next year’s prize.

The award recognizes individuals or organizations that have made extraordinary efforts to promote trade union rights and strengthen union organizing on a global scale.

The deadline for nominations is January 1, 2025.

A prize with great impact

The total prize is NOK 500,000, half of which is awarded directly to the winner. The other half is allocated to projects supporting the winner’s work or other relevant initiatives.

Since its establishment in 2010, Styrke has honored trade union leaders and organizations that have fought for fair working conditions, often in challenging and dangerous circumstances. Past winners include teachers from Bahrain and the Philippines, miners from Mexico, textile workers in Cambodia, healthcare workers in Liberia, and independent labor movements in Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Last year, the prize was awarded to Khaing Zar Aung, a courageous trade union leader from Myanmar who has tirelessly fought for workers’ rights under extremely challenging political conditions.
