Styrke reaches agreement on Mobile Rig Settlement
The union Styrke has reached an agreement in wage negotiations with the Norwegian Shipowners Association regarding the agreement for mobile offshore units through the National Mediator. This means a strike on the Norwegian continental shelf has been averted.
“We’ve secured a settlement we are very satisfied with” says Styrke union leader Frode Alfheim.
Styrke and the Norwegian Shipowners Association have agreed on a result that provides a significant pay raise for employees working on mobile units and platform drilling.
“We have successfully concluded a very good settlement for our members in the rig sector, where we’ve finalized a three-year committee effort to create an improved wage matrix,” says union leader Frode Alfheim.
He is also pleased that the three employee organizations — Styrke, Safe, and DSO — worked together during the mediation process to achieve this outcome.
The wage matrix now features approximately equal spacing between the different groups and levels. Additionally, wage groups A and A1 will be merged into a new wage group, meaning that all employees currently in wage group A will receive a pay increase to the current A1 level.
The overall framework for the settlement is estimated at 5.2 percent.
For individually paid employees, a wage increase of 5.45 percent will be granted, ensuring that each individual receives a minimum increase of 4.45 percent.
Furthermore, the night bonus will increase by 6 NOK, while the holiday allowance is increased with 50 NOK to 2,350 NOK per day.
Work will also continue to determine which trade certificates and additional qualifications will entitle workers to a competence allowance starting with the main settlement in 2026.
“In this process, we have already secured that deck workers will be able to obtain trade certificates from 2026 and be compensated for it,” says Alfheim. Additionally, employees who receive a promotion will not be placed at a lower seniority level in their new wage group.
The agreement for mobile offshore units applies to mobile offshore units, as well as platform drilling on permanently placed installations on the Norwegian continental shelf.
Styrke has over 3,500 members covered by this. These members work for companies such as Odfjell Drilling, Noble Drilling Norge, Transocean, COSL Drilling, Island Drilling, Seadrill, Saipem, Archer, RTC Offshore, H&P, Shelf Drilling, Akofs Offshore, Knutsen OAS, Sodexo, Aramark Norge Offshore, ESS, 4service Offshore, and others.
